BRAD BURKE CA. 1960's
 |
Burke House is believed to have been built Craftsman style about 1948 as a fisherman's retreat. Purchased by Brad Burke in the late 50's, it became the family home. Mr. Burke (pictured above with his catch) avidly pursued his love of fishing for nearly 40 years.

BOAT DOCK
.JPG) |
A newly constructed 5' x 15' BOAT DOCK is ready for launching into the Rogue River. Subject to River conditions, the dock is expected to remain in the river from early March through early November. Built with tie up cleats for 2 boats, convenient fishing is available from the dock or from your boat. Or swimming off the dock!
|
ACCESS STEPS
Access to the Rogue River is available from steps leading down to large boulders. Winter water levels annually change deposits of sand around the rocks, which can be hazardous for inexperienced swimmers. This photo was taken in late April, showing Springtime level of the water.

ELEPHANT ROCK

"Elephant Rock" is a well known landmark in the Rogue River just above the Ferry Hole Boat Launch and across from the Old Mill Bar. The Rogue River divides into 2 channels and fishermen in their boats fill the river and the South Channel during salmon runs.

THE FERRY HOLE
A public boat launch, "The Ferry Hole" (a longtime favorite fishing spot on the Rogue) is within 1/2 mile distance West of the home. Boat trailer parking is available at Burke House, as well as RV parking. The large river rock centered in the picture is known as "Elephant Rock", and Burke House is just out of sight beyond the rock.

CANFIELD RIFFLE
Canfield Riffle, another well known (and well used by "locals") fishing spot, is just upriver and visible from Burke House. There is easy access off North Bank Road over the sand/gravel bar, for fishing from the bar. Day time use only.

LIBBY POND
| |
LIBBY POND is upriver a short distance from Canfield Riffle. The Pond has been stocked in the past with trout, and is an exceptional fishing destination for the younger Fishermen and trout fishing.
