Located in the warmth of the Lower Rogue River on North Bank Road, only 5 miles from Pacific Beaches, BURKE HOUSE is a unique home with large view windows and an open floor plan to accommodate family and group gatherings. The evolution of the Rogue River has created an island opposite Burke House, closing the River channel on the North Side in the summertime to boat traffic and opening a haven for Wildlife. Enjoy the tranquility of being on the water frontage and watching the wildlife year round. Spring and Summer times especially provide a wealth of Wildlife watching of the River from the large kitchen and living rooms picture windows, Deck, or in the yard: Otters, Beaver, Great Blue Herons, White Ibis, Merganser and other river Ducks, Canada Geese, Osprey, Wild Turkeys, Deer, an occasional Seal, and even the possibility of a Salmon spawning in its season.
This home invites those who want to relax or read (lots of books available), Retreats (Quilting, Needlearts, painting), Writing, or a base for beach activities, golfing, fishing (River or Ocean), or experience the diverse activities of the Southern Oregon coastal areas.
The home has TV with Dish satellite service and a Video/DVD player. Local phone service is available, and Verizon cell phone service works well. INTERNET is available in BURKE HOUSE, either direct modem or Wireless connection. A GUEST RESOURCE NOTEBOOK has been assembled and is available, with brochures and information on Gold Beach and vicinity: Fishing regulations,
Golfing resources, Restaurants, etc. to enhance your vacation activities.

Outdoors, the temperature upriver during the summer months is usually warmer than at coastal locations. And what is more relaxing than reclining in the large hot tub on the deck with the river breezes flowing over you. Or picture Dinner at the Deck table with the sounds of the river water rippling in the background, perhaps BBQ your fresh caught salmon from the Rogue River. (BBQ and charcoal furnished at your request.)

Burke House was remodeled in 2008, and will sleep a minimum of 11 people in 4 bedrooms (not including a queen sofa bed): 2 queens on the main level; 6 twins (or optional 2 kings and 2 twins) plus a 3/4 size rollaway downstairs.
There are 2 bathrooms: one, downstairs, is a large 11' x 15' multi-use bathroom includes a private shower with dressing room, and laundry facilities.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave and other small appliances, though catering is available when desired. For family reunions and group gatherings, additional parking is available on the Upper Parking area, a level area large enough for 2 or 3 vehicles with boat trailers, or RV's and extra cars. In addition, for the campers in the group (or kids): tent sleeping is available in "Dad's Garden", a flat, grassy area above the house.

When you are ready to explore Gold Beach, businesses include 2 chain grocery stores, a drug store, hardware store, etc. and many specialty shops, not to mention restaurants and fast foods. Other activities available in the area include the famous Jet Boat Rides, Mail Boat rides, swimming and kayaking, beach combing, horseback riding and Golfing:

Burke House is also a fisherman's paradise and has been so, for over 60 years. It is one of the few vacation rentals with River access. A private boat dock will be launched for the 2012 season.
Fishing is a year 'round experience on the Rogue River: from trolling in your boat at the mouth of the Rogue during fish runs, to casting from boats, banks, and gravel bars all along the Rogue.
The Rogue River is famous for its healthy salmon and steelhead runs, and Burke House is a great place to take advantage of the fishing seasons year round.
